The Mirai: Hydrogen That Makes Sense

Not that long ago, many automobile magazines and talking heads said that hybrid vehicles were a fad. The Toyota Prius proved them profoundly wrong. Now they're saying the same thing about fuel cell technology.

Mirai is the answer to the fuel cell promise. And it's not just a concept car - Mirai is a genuine Toyota production vehicle that will do for fuel cells what Prius did for hybrids.

What Your Reservation Time Means

When you make a service reservation, what you are actually scheduling is a meeting with your Service Adviser. The actual service work is performed following this meeting, and may even be some time later in the day if parts must be ordered, etc.

Because of this, arriving on time is key - otherwise, you will arrive during other Customer meetings and have to wait until your Service Adviser is available.

If you are available to come in sooner or will likely be late, please call us at 855-664-6193, and we will do our best to arrange another time.

Tech Talk: Do I Need New Brakes?

Brake inspections are essential to safe driving, and a regular part of Motorcars Honda's maintenance process. If it has been awhile since you have been in for service, here are 7 easy things to look for to determine whether or not you may need new brakes:
  1. Noise: screeching, grinding or clicking noises when applying the brakes.
  2. Pulling: vehicle pulls to one side while braking.
  3. Low Pedal:brake pedal nearly touches the floor before engaging.
  4. Hard Pedal: must apply extreme pressure to the pedal before brakes engage.
  5. Grabbing: brakes grab at the slightest touch to the pedal.
  6. Vibration: brake pedal…

Our Rental Fleet is Going Green

by Duncan Shaw

This past April, 32,378 hybrid vehicles were sold in America. Over half of those sales came from Toyota, while the Toyota Prius led the fleet. Prius models are available to our customers as rental vehicles when they have services that exceed 2 hours. If you’d like to take one out, let us know the next time you schedule a service appointment.

Here are a few reasons why we love the Toyota Prius:
•    Outstanding fuel economy (up to 51 mpg)
•    One of the largest cargo spaces in its class, perfect for long trips or taking the…

It's All About the Cookies

It's All About the Cookies
If you've ever visited our Toyota Service Center, you probably know that we have a thing about fresh-baked cookies. To us, cookies taste like home. Since Motorcars is our home, we share treats when you visit us. That's why we bake genuine Otis Spunkmeyer cookies day and night.

If you try, we bet that you can smell them right now - those chocolate chips and roasted macadamia nuts...

Summer Road Trip Tips

With summer approaching, you may be planning a trip on the open road.   Before venturing out into the great beyond, you might consider following a few tips that can save you money, time and possibly a major inconvenience:
•    Cooling system (radiator): flush and refill according to the service manual’s instructions. The level, condition and concentration of the coolant should be checked periodically. Important — first let the engine cool down before removing the radiator cap.
•    Safety and convenience, inspect all lights and bulbs, and replace any that are burned out.
•    Replace worn wiper blades and always have plenty of washer…

Tech Talk: It's All About Traction

When your technician explains what is going on with your vehicle, it's important that you understand what they mean. Tech Talk helps inform you so you have reasonable knowledge going into the service department.

Toyota uses several systems that affect traction, and which does what can be confusing. Here's the scoop:

Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS): As we've discussed in this column before, anti-lock brakes help prevent sliding tires by selectively releasing pressure to pump the brakes for you. This helps maintain steering control and directional stability.

Traction Control: Helps prevent spinning tires by reducing the engine's…
