What's New In The New 2017 Toyota Prius Hybrid Versus The 2016 Toyota Prius Hybrid?
The new 2017 Toyota Prius remains largely unchanged from the previous 2016 Toyota Prius model. The biggest addition in the 2017 Toyota Prius is the addition of the "Toyota Safety Sense™ P" (TSS-P) package as standard equipment on all new 2017 Toyota Prius hybrids. Different Toyota Safety Sense™ packages were available as standard or optional equipment for the 2016 model year, but the 2017 model year is the first year that TSS-P is available as standard equipment across the board.
The New Standard TSS-P Package Includes:
- An in-vehicle camera and front-grille radar for collision detection.
- Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection.
- Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist.
- Automatic High Beams.
- Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.
The 2017 Toyota Prius and 2016 Toyota Prius are identical otherwise. Exterior styling and interior amenities are the same across the 2016 and 2017 model years.
Should I Buy The 2016 Toyota Prius Hybrid Or The 2017 Toyota Prius Hybrid?
There is no doubt that the enhanced standard safety equipment on the 2017 Toyota Prius is a welcome addition to the Prius model lineup. However, Motorcars Toyota has several 2016 Toyota Prius hybrids still available for sale, and many of these vehicles are available at a much lower price than comparable 2017 models.
